When you proclaim you are a Christian, you must ask yourself
if God would be proud of that statement, or he is somewhere face palming
himself thinking you missed the message while busy judging the messenger?
I am a Theist. I often remind myself not to fault God for
the mistakes of his followers. My most recent experience with this is exactly
why I remind myself everyday. I know a person that’s less than “tidy” in his
yard. I also know this person had lived this way for 30 years, and 15 years
prior to my buying my property. I was recently asked to sign a petition to have
the man removed from his home because his home and land wasn’t kept, and was
considered unsightly by most of our neighbors. I refused.
Why? Because the neighbors that once lived in mobile homes that have now built their brick homes have forgotten they too used to live like
the man they are trying to get removed from the land he owns. They forget this
very man is the same man that has helped fix a car, tractor, a/c, and fence and
various other items over the years for $50 and $60. I never forgot. I realize
this person is not an ideal citizen by their church going standards, yet he
gives more un-haltingly than those very Christians he has lived next to for the
last fifteen years that now want him expelled.
For these reasons I wouldn’t consider signing a petition to
remove a man from land he has paid for. I would not judge someone whom has so
little and yet gives so much. I cannot make myself have a man kicked off the
land he has lived on fifteen years before I even considered purchasing mine,
simply because I live in a brick home. Its simple really, I can consider his
land unsightly by my eyes, however I don’t ever feel the need to enter into his
privacy-fenced yard and gawk. I cannot be a part of some malicious scheme to
attack a man I know is physically sick or even poke fun at the junk that is in
his yard, because his junk once fixed my car for $40 on a morning it left me
stranded. I called the dealer-ship; this repair would have cost me $560!
I realize now that it's not Christ or even God people are
angry with. It’s the people that so passionately proclaim they live in His
image and judgemental people! I keep to myself. I am not an overly religious person. However, I have
come to realize that unlike my Christian neighbor counterparts. I do not need
twice weekly reminders and private school tuition dues to remind me what is
right within my soul. As a person that worships Christ in their own way, I see
now why people refer to these types with disdain.
Those that pay tithes are not closer to God. There is no
admission into the heavenly afterlife. Those that give without consequence and
give so much when they have so
little are the ones that will truly enjoy the
elation of heaven. The others that forgot where they come from will surely be
uprooted from their thrones. I wish no ill will on any man, I can only hope
these people that so pretentiously attack the goodness in others, will get to
experience the ripple effect of their actions.
Make no mistakes, I think any person has the ability to be a hippocrite, this is just me sharing a personal story. The blame is not solely on Christians, but Judgmental people as a whole.
Sincerely,
Those who stir the fecal pot, should be made to lick the
spoon.
